Byrd and Holland: Injury updates

Baker senior tailback Joseph Byrd is done for the season with a torn MCL and damaged ACL, but Bulldogs coach Brian Conn doesn’t believe it will affect his college scholarship prospects.

Riverdale High grad Cody to be featured on CBS

CBS spent time in east Fort Myers talking with coaches and friends of former Riveerdale High star Terrence Cody, now a defensive lineman for Alabama. Cody is a projected first-round pick in April’s NFL Draft.
East Lee County coach Scott Jones, Cody’s coach at Riverdale, said CBS is planning on airing the story on Cody in the next week or two.

Lights out for FCI til Oct. 30

At 10 p.m. Friday the lights went out at the Florida Christian Institute football game. Play stopped while officials tried to figure out the issue. With six minutes left in the fourth quarter, the teams agreed to finish the game when they meet again on Oct. 30. FCI leads the Oak Park Performing Arts Academy 20-12.

The Bishop Verot-Lemon Bay game is in a weather delay.

Offensive woes

Three teams on tonight’s Week 1 schedule came up short on the scoreboard. Cape Christian, Lehigh and East Lee failed to score. The three teams combined to be outscored 123-0.
