No offense Coach Roszell you had a great season, but you were expected to have a great season. My vote would have been for Lehigh’s coach.
Got it wrong — ECS’s Coach Lynch was superior to any other coach this year.
way to go Colton Lynch! I’m with capegirl – Coach Lynch is an outstanding coach and a respectable leader – we are blessed to have him at ECS!
what happened to the leading tackler at the middle linebacker position in this area. as fans we thought the stats spoke for themselves. what are we showing our up and coming atheletes in this area.
I agree coach Lynch is probably one of the best in the area.
It’s surprising that I don’t see Solano at DE…
I’d also like to see Mariner’s Andrew Dukas if there was a designated return man (is that overstreet?) Dukas has had an impressive season just looking at his kick return stats.
Coaching awards are awarded for a full season, not half. Lehigh does have talent. It took the Lehigh coach 5 games to figure out their best player was playing out of position. It makes you wonder what they could have done had Overstreet been playing at QB all season. Riverdale played well except for 1 game. No one expected Riverdale to win their district. Coach Lynch has done a great job at ECS.
Come on Beenthere..You can’t give coach of the year to a coach that only wins half their games. If anything I can see the arguement for ECS and Coach Lynch. I would put Coach Roszell up there too. Even though they have talent you still have to execute every Friday night and find a way to win. I for one didn’t expect Riverdale to win the district.
I agree that the honor of not being selected leaves a few people frustrated. However, there is no frustration at Cape Coral High, none whatsoever. Have fun and just win. 10-0!
Cape wins IN SPITE of their coach because they have superior skilled players than their opponents. Cape’s coach is not even close to the best coach in the area. Enjoy your 10-0 and it should be 11-0 before you are eliminated in the 2nd round. You benefited from a very weak schedule this year.
I agree with joker, there were alot of wimpy teams this year, was yours one of them?
Ace,
NO!
i think barron collier TE is alot better he already has full rides from Georgia, michigan, purdue & miami as a junior. and the qb should be mark schoenfiel for bc or definately dallas crawford ive seen him play and he is ridicoulously good. and one of the other running back should be darion hall or the rb from ida baker. i think this all star lineup is amazing tho moslty all of the kids are going to big D1 schools or will be.
Joker, yo have no idea what you’re talking about, Cape has a very good coach. He knows his offense and how to allow his players to be successful. Sure the defense has its weak spots in play selection, but Coach Gobbel(head coach), doesn’t call the defensive plays, he leaves that to his defensive coordinator. So before you start talking down about a person who knows way more about football than you ever will (coach gobbel), maybe you should know the facts.
I know exactly what I am talking about. I don’t have a problem with the defense. It’s not hard to run an offense with the weapons he has. Even you could be successful calling the plays at Cape. I have seen Goebbel for three years now. The unbeaten season has been achieved because of 1. big plays by his playmakers sometimes on busted plays and 2. the defense has bailed them out with defensive TD’s like they did against Lehigh, North and Pt Charlotte. Last years team should have been at least 9-1 if Your Great Goebbel knew how to come up with a game plan and adjust to a teams weakness and use Cape’s strength to attack it. Your Great Goebbel also used a slow white QB to run a spread offense and left Watkins on the bench until the end of the season. Any Coach in Lee County would have done better with last years team and gone undefeated this year. You don’t know me and I think I know plenty about football. Do not be deceived by Goebbels record he is not a good coach. Thank God he is gone at the end of the year!
I know coach Gobbel, and the reason he played “the white QB” last year was for a few reasons. Such as giving him a little bit of time to see what he could do, “the white QB”, whose name is Collin Saring, needed to play a few games to even get noticed by colleges, Collin is now playing at the college level (not a fancy college, but he still got the opportunity because Gobbel had the heart to give him a chance). Don’t criticize players from the past. Gobbel is a great overall coach, on the field and off. He knew what he was getting himself into last year when he played Collin over Jaylen.. Before that season had even started, Jaylen was getting looked at by UF as well as other huge name schools. Collin probably didn’t even get looked at by a DI school. Maybe you didn’t know this, but a great coach isn’t defined by his record (which is all you know about him, besides the fact that he had many gifted skilled players), he is defined by how he works with his team and other coaches and can improve the team all around. That’s right, his TEAM. Not just his “playmakers”. Gobbel always gave players a shot, even if they didn’t see much playing time, he always knew how they could help out the team. Like I said before, know your facts before you start talking down about somebody. Especially Gobbel.
And I always forget to put the first “e” in Goebbel
. Nothing new, I’ve never spelled his name right haha.
Thanks for replying you made my point for me. You said, “a great coach isn’t defined by his record, he is defined by how he works with his team and other coaches and can improve the team all around”. I know for a fact that Goebbel does not work with his coaches, its Goebbels way or nothing. He is not open to suggestions from his assistants, who also are/were good coaches and coached with some other great head coaches over the years. Did you know that every coach that started with Goebbel three years ago is gone, because of him. As for how he works with the team, he has a responsibility to the TEAM not one player (Saring)!! He did a huge disservice to last years team by not using his best players at QB and also WR’s. This is high school football, not pop warner. Play your non-starters on special teams! Not everyone is meant to play College football. Last year he put one player over the TEAM!! That is not what a GREAT coach does, a GREAT coach does what is best for the TEAM. It is too bad Cape lost Troy Davis, he was a great coach, not Goebbel. These are facts and this is why I talk down the Grat Goebbel!!
Congrats to all the players selected, especially the three Tarpons. Its always an honor when someone from out of town and/or an area the paper doesn’t cover, gets a spot…
Cpae Corals team was brought together by the Juniors, the Seniors joined in on their comraderie and teamwork, thanks to the coaches and if they were smart they would stick around one more year, cause “ditto is the word”.
