Mr. Triton swimming strong in mascot poll

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Mariner’s Mr. Triton mascot started hot out of the gate of The News-Press’ fan’s favorite mascot survey Tuesday. The momentum has started to slow and a few competitors started to close in, but as of 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Mariner’s school spirit took hold.

Mr. Triton leads the way with 25 percent of the vote (120 total), followed by Tsunami Sam at 12 percent, Gulf Coast’s tandem of Sharky and Sharkette (9.3 percent) and Victor the Viking (8.6 percent).

There are lots of mascots piled up behind Victor. North’s Big Red has started to come on as has Riverdale’s Raider Man.

The polls will stay open throughout the weekend, so there’s still time to catch Mr. Triton.
