Just a week after 20 marching bands descended on Fort Myers High School, Mariner High School will host the annual Preview of Champions Marching Band Competition, which is attracting bands from Southwest Florida, Miami and Tampa.
Mariner’s Silver Magic Marching Band, which earned a superior rating at last weekend’s Florida Bandmasters Association performance, will be hosting the competition at the school’s Tony McKenna Stadium. The competition begins at 3:15 p.m. and runs until all 19 bands have performed. The Silver Magic Marching Band will perform as an exhibition group. Middle school students from Lee County’s west attendance zone will kick off the competition at 2:50 p.m. as they perform the National Anthem.
Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children age 10 and under. Mariner High School is located at 701 Chiquita Blvd. North. Call 772-3324 for more
information.
